The extensive and highly practical knowledge that we have gained from years of QS research is of great value to students worldwide. We teach local and international students about the tools and methods of self tracking, making them more aware of QS and preparing them to become health care professionals of the future. Currently, we are involved in the following educational programmes at Hanze UAS: Minor in Global Health & Quantified Self, Minor in Healthy Ageing, the Global Health & Quantified Self Summerschool and the Honours Minor in Research Skills.

Minor in Global Health & Quantified Self
The short programme/minor in Global Health & Quantified Self concerns aspects of globalization and health, linked to digital health and self-tracking. It is a 30 EC international (exchange) education programme that offers you the unique opportunity to familiarize yourself with the increasingly globalized world, digitalisation and its effects on health. The minor is meant for third-year or fourth-year (Bachelor level) students with a background in nursing, allied health care studies, midwifery, social studies or human technology studies.

The three pillars within this programme are:

  1. Global Health, Globalization, International Organizations & International Cooperation;
  2. Culture and Health;
  3. Digital Health and Quantified Self

The programme is offered by the International Health Care School of Hanze UAS. QSI is closely involved in the Quantified Self aspect of the programme, which encompasses 7 EC.

Minor in Healthy Ageing
During the short programme/minor in Healthy Ageing you will investigate, together with students from other programmes, how people can age in a healthy way. Among others, you will look at how you can shift the focus for curing diseases towards self-management, positive psychology, deploying one’s own capacity, and  personal power? Quantified Self is one aspect that plays a role in this issue. The minor is meant for third-year or fourth-year (Bachelor level) students with a background in nursing, allied health care studies, midwifery, social studies or human technology studies.

The programme is offered by the International Health Care School of Hanze UAS. QSI is closely involved in the Quantified Self aspect of the programme, which encompasses 1 EC.

Honours Minor in Research Skills
During the Honours Minor in Research Skills (30 EC) students conduct self-tracking research related to a topic of their own choosing. This could be for example about the effect of coffee consumption on quality of sleep. Furthermore, they learn more about statistics, research methods, reasoning and ethics. Participants of the programme work together in multi-disciplinary teams with students from Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy, speech therapy, nutrition, physiotherapy and nursing.

The programme is offered by the School for Health Care Studies of Hanze UAS. QSI is closely involved in the Quantified Self aspect of the programme, which encompasses 4 EC.

Summerschool Global Health & Quantified Self
The Summerschool Global Health & Quantified Self explores the aspects of globalisation and health that are linked to digital health and self-tracking. It is organised in close cooperation with the Quantified Self Institute and is the first educational programme in the world to incorporate Quantified Self into an educational programme at bachelor level. The three-week long summer school, with a view to the future, helps you gain knowledge about prevention and self-management in health, which will be beneficial during your career. The total course is 6 EC of which approximately 2.5 EC are dedicated to QS.
