Friday 7 April a delegation of Apple visited Hanze UAS in Groningen to discuss possible e-health initiatives with Hanze UAS and a consortium of strategic partners. The visit was a follow-up to a network visit by this consortium to Apple in Amsterdam in January. The meeting in Groningen was very successful; various joint activities will be developed in the months to come.

The initial visit to Apple in January was organized for strategic partners of Hanze UAS to forge regional connections and a consortium for cooperation. During this network visit, following presentations by Martijn de Groot (QSI) and Magnus Trouw (Apple), the main conclusion among the involved parties was that technical possibilities for effective healthcare and vitality are there, but implementation remains a challenge. Furthermore, opportunities for cooperation were categorized into three themes: (healthcare) innovation, prolonging living at home and regional vitality.

In order to move forward, Friday 7 April a follow-up session was organized, which started with a welcoming presentation at the newly opened Living Lab Healthy Workplace by Jan Gerard Hoendervanger and Justin Timmer. During the day a number of concrete activities were announced, which will be worked on in the coming months:

  • Decreasing client/patient related administrative burden for healthcare professionals (Verslavingszorg Noord Nederland, Martiniziekenhuis, Menzis, Hanze UAS and its Digital Society Hub, Drenthe & Alfa College and Apple)
  • Imagine run, a worldwide running event (FC Groningen, Noorderpoort, Samenwerking Noord, Hanze UAS and HealthiPort)
